Ever since the Great North Run I’ve been having a bit of a problem with knee pain on the inside of my right knee, just underneath the knee. It’s been manageable up until this week with some icing and stretching but now my lovely taper into the Great Eastern Run is not exactly going to plan. This is what it should have looked like: Monday: Easy 6 miles Tuesday: Paced session with 1 mile warm up then 6 x 2 mins fast with 2 mins jog...

Not much running this week. I went and did the usual Striders interval session on Monday which was very hard work. It was pyramid intervals this week but instead of the usual 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2, 1 minutes of effort, Mark (bless his cotton socks – not!) decided to make this one efforts of 1, 3, 5, 7, 5, 3, 1. As the usual girls were all MIA this week, only Wendy turned up (and that was after a half marathon PB the day before – respect), I...

It felt really good to make it past the 14 mile mark and stop running, it also felt really good to be home. Especially as well most of the 14 miles had been completed in the rain and I was rather wet and cold. I was very weary (silly me I hadn’t taken any drink to re-fuel on the run) but at least at home I could relax and rest. In...
So glad I had an easy week this week. My legs feel a lot better than they did this time last week, but the hard week does seem to have paid off as I got another parkrun PB (yay, go me!). On Monday the Shenley Striders and I did pyramid intervals and boy was I knackered at the end. After all, that was essentially three hard running days in a row. We did the usual Shenley Brook End – Westcroft – Emerson Valley – Furzton loop that we use, but...
A really good running week this week although I have to admit I’m knackered at the end of it. The week started of as normal with interval training with the Shenley Striders. This week we were doing 10 minute intervals, then just when I thought I’d survived that Mark added in a couple of hill repeats. Not nice. Anyway I needed to see my physio Caroline of Joint Solutions for a potential IT Band problem before it got any worse which meant I...
