Why did I start running again? It’s a good question really and when I was asked this question the other day it got me thinking about my story. There’s a bit on the About page, but that’s not the whole story. I started running again to get some back some fitness. I lost a job, started my own business and then 18 months down the line realised I hadn’t exercised since I’d had bad run at the Great North Run (GNR) 2008. Not that I...

My Saturday was rather busy, volunteering and getting rather wet at a rainy Milton Keynes parkrun, drying off with a coffee and bacon sarnie afterwards in the cafe, cleaning and a three hour trip round Ikea. Not the ideal preparation since I’d orginally planned to try and keep off my feet. I’d also planned to get in a 3 hour sleep (once the kids were in bed) before going to the event but at 9:30pm the kids and I were still awake and...

I wanted to try and get to the Concrete Cows and back. A distance I’d estimated at about 10 miles. However, 45 minutes into my run I was nowhere near them, it felt like a bit of a failure to turn back at this point so I carried on, telling myself I would...
After last night’s hard run I decided to take is easy today. So I did a nice (well it was supposed to be nice but it still felt hard) 4 mile recovery run. I then jumped on my bike to fetch my youngest daughter from pre-school. I was a bit later so 2.3 miles of manic cycling later I arrived on time and then… Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow. Cramp in my toes. I hobbled into pre-school, collected Izzy whilst trying to stretch my toes, hobbled back...
